Large wildfires have engulfed northern and southern Carolina in the U.S., and authorities have declared a state of emergency in South Carolina to aid efforts to combat the extraordinary situation. According to information from the Associated Press, firefighting crews are working on containing several massive fires that have spread across all of Carolina.
In the vicinity of the Carolina Forest in the western shore area of Myrtle Beach, one of the fires has spread over an area of 1,200 acres. Firefighters are battling more than 170 fires in the region, including a large fire not far from the Myrtle Beach shoreline.
While firefighters continue to battle the blaze, approaching homes, authorities around Ori confirmed the absence of any injuries or fatalities, as well as the absence of damaged buildings. Later, officials allowed residents who had been evacuated earlier to return home.
Governor of South Carolina Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency to support resources in the fight against the fires and to ensure necessary resources for emergency services across the state.
